Welcome new sign ups to groups

Track and notify group leaders when new supporters join

SupporterBase can notify group leaders by email whenever someone joins a group through its public signup form. This guide covers how to enable those notifications, configure who receives them, and track when supporters joined.

Enabling new supporter notifications

  1. Go to Settings > Configurations > Mailers.
  2. Under New Supporter Notification, select Send new supporter notification.
  3. Configure the default email text if needed.

Public page sign-ups only

Notifications are only triggered for sign-ups via the public page form. Supporters added by imports or auto-tagging do not currently generate notifications. A digest email for those cases is in development.

Ensuring personal notifications are enabled

Each group leader must also enable email notifications in their personal user profile.

  1. Click on your name in the left-hand menu.
  2. Check whether emails are enabled for your account under the Email setting in your profile.

Choosing who receives group notifications

Within each group, you can set which leaders get notifications. This includes new sign-ups and other alerts such as bulk communication approvals.

  1. Go to your group and click Edit details.
  2. Scroll to Add point people.
  3. Choose one of the options:
    • All admins: Every admin receives notifications.
    • Only specific point people: Nominate which admins should receive notifications.
    • If you select "Only specific point people" and leave the text box blank, only captains (not admins) will receive general notification emails.

Tracking when supporters joined

Leaders can use supporter profiles and filters to see when people joined:

  • Supporter since: Date they were added to your nation.
  • Group member since: Date they joined this specific group.
  • Joined at filter: Filter and sort supporters by join date (most recent to least recent).

Weekly welcome check

Make a habit of checking the Joined At filter weekly. Send a short welcome email or SMS to new supporters. This quick touchpoint helps build engagement early and makes them feel part of the community right away.
